Ingredients

  • 1 ¼ cups whole milk
  • ½ cup light brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 pinch ground cinnamon
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients: In a heavy saucepan, add whole milk, light brown sugar, melted butter, egg, all-purpose flour, ground cinnamon, and salt.
  2. Whisk Until Smooth: Whisk the mixture until it’s smooth and all the ingredients are fully combined.
  3. Cook the Mixture: Place the saucepan over medium heat. Continue whisking constantly as the mixture cooks.
  4. Thicken the Sauce: Cook for 10 to 12 minutes until the sauce thickens and can coat the back of a spoon.
  5. Add Vanilla Extract: Once thickened, remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  6. Serve: Allow the sauce to cool slightly, then pour it over your favorite bread pudding or dessert. Enjoy!
